Evelyn Nall was first taught to embroider by her mother at a very young age. She made her first dress out of feedsacks when she was about 10 years old but didn’t really start sewing until her children were born – 2 girls and 2 boys. She made play outfits, dresses, pants, suits, prom dresses and eventually a wedding dress for one of her daughters – all the while making clothes for herself and making curtains and draperies for her home. She was a very busy lady! Quilting came later, in 1970-71 with her first completed quilt – a Dutch Doll pattern – for her oldest grandchild, Erin, born in 1971. From there it’s been a wonderful journey as Evelyn has completed wellover 60 quilts – she loses count! Evelyn was born in Tulsa Oklahoma and moved to Minnesota in 2006 to be close to her daughter and her family. She has won numerous ribbons for her quilts over the years and she even entered a quilt in the 2008 Minnesota Quilt Show. Her favorites are the old patterns and the reproduction fabrics but she has done a bit of everything. Her children and their families love how generous she has been in making and gifting quilts to them. Even with having given many quilts away, she still has many she treasures and loves to show, telling a little something about each one that reveals so much about this lovely woman.

"How To" books are simply the best when it comes to learning (or re-learning) new techniques. Using a serger seems daunting to some people (like me) -- however, one of my goals this year is to learn to use the Bernina serger that I bought from Quilter's Haven then end of last year --- so Jean ordered in this GREAT book on serging techniques (on a side note -- if you want to stop in and BUY 2 serger books -- add the Bernina book on Serging to your list). Stop by Quilter's Haven and buy your copy of this great book today.
Here is a description about the book:

I Love this OESD bobbin thread - especially for the bobbins in machine embroidery designs. The cones come with 6000 yards on each cone which means it seems to last forever. Quilter's Haven carries this bobbin thread in both white and black. This thread is manufactured by OESD which is well known for its embroidery products -- and this one is no exception!
